BMW Powertrain Control Systems (PT320) - 2 lessons
This course will focus on the description, operation and diagnosis of various components found on the BMW engine management systems. The inputs and outputs for these systems will be discussed in detail along with utilizing scan tool data and output controls to confirm the proper operation of these components.
 
Chrysler J2534 Module Programming (PT124) - 1 lesson
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) designed the J2534 interface standard for flash reprogramming emission-related Electronic Control Units (ECU). The J2534 protocol allows independent aftermarket facilities to reprogram emission related ECU’s without having to purchase specialized dealer-only equipment. This course will provide technicians with information on programming J2534 modules found on Chrysler vehicles. Demonstrations will highlight determining the current calibration of a vehicle and reprogramming the PCM using the Chrysler’s TechAuthority website.
 
Chrysler Powertrain Control Systems (PT131) - 4 lessons
Upon successful completion of this course and with sufficient “hands-on” practice, participants should understand the fundamental operating principles and diagnostic procedures for inputs and outputs of Daimler Chrysler’s powertrain control systems—relating to common situations such as MIL on, no-start, misfire and drivability problems.
 
Displacement on Demand (PT020) - 1 lesson
This course will cover operation, diagnosis and repair aspects related to vehicles equipped with DOD engines. The course will also discuss that the benefits of vehicles equipped with DOD is an increase in fuel economy and a decrease in tailpipe emissions. Manufacturers systems to be discussed will be General Motors, Honda and Chrysler.
 
Electronic Throttle Systems with Cruise Control (PT023) - 1 lesson
This course will cover the description, operation, diagnosis and repair of vehicles equipped with electronic throttle systems. All aspects of the drive by wire system will be covered including the cruise control operation.
 
European Ignition Systems (PT301) - 1 lesson
This course is designed to show the differences between common European ignition systems and other ignition systems, as well as demonstrate the correct diagnostic techniques and discuss the symptoms of failures.
 
Ford Chrysler Ignition Systems (PT101) - 4 lessons
Ignition system malfunctions cause a large percentage of engine misfire conditions that may or may not cause a malfunction indicator lamp to illuminate. Waste spark appears on many Ford and Chrysler products and represents a significant opportunity for service technicians. This course will demonstrate timely and accurate diagnosis on these ignition systems.
 
Ford Integrated Electronic Ignition System (PT104) - 1 lesson
In this lesson, we examine the Ford Integrated Electronic Ignition System found in the Ford V6 engine family. We will discuss the purpose and operation of the individual ignition system components. Hands-on demonstrations will highlight tests on the electrical circuits of the individual components using of a scan tool, a digital multi-meter and a scope.
 
Ford J2534 Module Programming (PT122) - 1 lesson
The J2534 interface was designed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency as the method to flash program vehicle electronic control modules. The device provides independent automotive service facilities with the ability to reprogram an existing ECU for emission related concerns and to program a replacement ECU if it fails without having to purchase a multitude of manufacturer-specific equipment. This course will provide technicians with a step-by-step procedure for programming PCM’s found in Ford vehicles. Demonstrations will also cover how to access current calibration of a vehicle using the Ford website.
 
Ford Powertrain Control Systems (PT121) - 3 lessons
This Ford based course will concentrate on diagnostics and practical examples involving common issues with HO2S, Knock Sensors, (DPFE) Differential pressure feed back, (Electric) EEGR monitor and EGR flow.
 
General Motors Direct Injection Fuel System (PT123) - 2 lessons
General Motors Direct Injection Fuel System - Low Pressure Side is part one of the two part series. In this lesson, we will cover the low pressure side of the Direct Injection Fuel System found on most General Motors (GM) gasoline engines. During this course, we will discuss the purpose and operation of each of the fuel system components. This lesson will also highlight hands-on demonstrations of performing tests on the low pressure side fuel system and the electrical circuits of the individual components with the use of a scan tool, a digital multi-meter and a scope.
 
General Motors V6 Ignition System (PT103) - 1 lesson
This course will cover the ignition system found on the modern General Motors V6 engine family. During the course, we will discuss the purpose and operation of each of the ignition system components along with performing tests using diagnostic test equipment such as a scan tool, digital multi-meter and an oscilloscope. We will diagnose ignition system related faults using service information and various test equipment.
 
GM Ignition Systems (PT100) - 2 lessons
GM ignition systems evolved over time, but the waste spark system is still widely used on many GM engines. Since most GM vehicles use a variation of this system, understanding the service procedures is essential. This course describes the systems and explains how to quickly and successfully diagnose problems.
 
GM Powertrain Control Systems (PT111) - 4 lessons
GM drivability concerns may be tricky to diagnose. This course will demonstrate step-by-step diagnostic procedures on critical engine management sensors so participants know how to begin their diagnosis and how to successfully repair the systems—safely and effectively.
 
Honda Ignition Systems (PT204) - 1 lesson
This course will show the operation, diagnosis and repair aspects of the Honda Electronic Ignition Systems used on late model vehicles. It will cover the ignition system components along with the diagnosis of the primary and secondary circuits. We will also demonstrate diagnosis of the variable valve lift and duration timing systems and mechanical timing repairs.
 
Honda Powertrain Control Systems (PT240) - 3 lessons
Upon completion of this segment and with sufficient “hands-on” practice, successful participants should be able to identify, locate, describe and diagnose Honda powertrain systems including modes of operation and engine performance control as related to common situations such as MIL lights, no-starts, misfires and drivability problems.
 
Hyundai Ignition Systems (PT203) - 1 lesson
This course will show the operation, diagnosis and repair aspects of Hyundai Electronic Ignition Systems used on late model vehicles. It will cover the ignition system components along with the diagnosis of the primary and secondary circuits. We will also demonstrate diagnosis of the variable valve timing systems and mechanical timing repairs.
 
Hyundai Powertrain Systems (PT230) - 3 lessons
Upon completion of this course and with sufficient “hands-on” practice, successful participants should be able to successfully diagnose and repair various Hyundai engine performance problems.
 
Introduction to J2534 Flash Programming (PT120) - 1 lesson
The J2534 Standard is a specification developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) regarding Flash Programming. J2534 provides a universal application programming interface for all Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) tools, allowing independent technicians to purchase just one tool to reprogram all vehicles. As part of the standard, OEMs are required to supply the vehicle update data to the aftermarket at a fair and reasonable price.
 
Mazda Powertrain Control Systems (PT210) - 2 lessons
Upon completion of this segment and with sufficient “hands-on” practice, the participants should be able to identify, locate, describe and diagnose principle functions of system components including any unique operating characteristics that may be applicable to Mazda’s principle modes of operation and engine performance control as related to common situations such as; (MIL), no-start, misfire and drivability problems.
 
Nissan Ignition Systems (PT251) - 1 lesson
This lesson examines the Nissan Ignition System found on the Nissan V6 engine family. We discuss the purpose and operation of the individual ignition system components, including the Crankshaft Position (POS) sensor and the Camshaft position (PHASE) sensor, while outlining their effects on engine operation. This lesson will highlight the roles of the ignition coils and ECM for engine operation. Hands-on demonstrations performing tests for continuity and circuit load testing on the electrical circuits of the individual components will be performed.
 
Nissan Powertrain Control Systems (PT250) - 2 lessons
Upon completion of this segment, successful participants will be able to identify, locate, describe, and diagnose system components including any unique operating characteristics that may be applicable to Nissan’s modes of operation and engine performance control for common situations such as MIL lights, no-starts, misfires, and drivability problems.
 
No Code Diagnosis (PT010) - 2 lessons
No-start, hard starting and cut-out or stalling problems which don’t set diagnostic test codes are common but sometimes difficult challenges for technicians. This course will provide demonstrate effective methods to diagnose and repair these situations.
 
Powertrain Control Systems (PT001) - 3 lessons
This course will help participants recognize the need to verify the base mechanical conditions when diagnosing driveability and performance complaints. Base engine conditions and spark and fuel delivery will be discussed and diagnosed on the air, step by step.
 
Superchargers and Turbochargers (PT021) - 1 lesson
This course will cover operation, diagnosis and repair aspects related to vehicles equipped with superchargers and turbochargers. The course will also discuss the benefits of vehicles equipped with these systems and a comparison of the two systems will be looked at.
 
Toyota Powertrain Control Systems (PT220) - 2 lessons
This diagnostic course will deal exclusively with Toyota engine management systems—how to diagnose them, what to expect and how to repair them. This is the first of two Toyota specific courses designed to demonstrate proper diagnostic procedures and techniques for Toyota vehicles.
